Christian College of Engineering & Technology, Bhilai celebrated its 17th Foundation Day in the college auditorium on 10th Oct’2015. Christian College of Engineering & Technology (CCET), Bhilai was established in the year 1998 by the St. Thomas Mission, Bhilai. It is the second oldest Private engineering college of Bhilai. CCET is one of the 27th educational institutions run under the aegis of St. Thomas Mission, Bhilai founded by Late Lamented Bishop H.G. Dr. Stephanos Mar Theodosius, the pioneer of the mission. The mission of St. Thomas Mission, Bhilai is to serve the society through imparting the light of the knowledge, which it has been doing for the past 42 years. The mission adheres to certain principles and values due to which it has acquired a special mark of identity in the society. Now the mission is led by the great visionary of environmentalism and educationalist H.G. Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius.
The celebration started at 11.30 am in the college auditorium with a prayer by the Chief Guest, Fr Varghese Daniel, Principal MGM School, Bhilai, in the presence of Fr P T Thomas, Vice Principal MGM School, the Executive Vice Chairman Fr. Jose K Varghese, Mr V Balasubramaniam, Principal, Mar Baselios Vidya Bhavan, Bhilai, Fr. Aju K Varghese, Bursar, the Principal, Dr Dipali Soren, together with all the Head of the Departments, Staff and students. After this the celebration was started by lamp lighting ceremony, prayer and floral tribute the founder Late Lamented Bishop Dr Stephanos Mar Theodosius. Dr. Dipali Soren welcomed all the luminaries and presented a detailed report of the activities and achievements of CCET in the academic year 2014-15. She also told about the history of CCET, Bhilai and enlightened the gathering about various facilities and curriculum available in the college.
The Executive Vice Chairman, Fr Jose K Varghese thanked the Chief Guest for gracing the function with his presence. He shared the wonderful story of the journey of the college through the great leadership of Late Lamented Bishop H.G. Dr. Stephanos Mar Theodosius. He remembered the vision and the valuable contributions made by the late founder in the field of education specially meant for the under privileged and weaker sections of the society. He quoted Sam Levenson, “Don’t watch the clock, do what it does, keep going”, and motivated the gathering to play their roles with a positive attitude for development of our great nation.
The Chief Guest, Fr Varghese Daniel in his brief address conveyed his best wishes on the 17th Foundation Day and asked the gathering to follow the path of virtuousness shown by the late founder. He said that only hope sustains life and it is made wonderful by the colors of happiness. He told the gathering that each one of us must realize who we are. He urged young technocrats to be an instrument for social transformation and become human beings in gods own image. There a prize distribution ceremony was held and prizes to the winners of Literary Club Events (Extempore, Debate, Speech, Slogan Competitions), Techno club Events, Cultural Events (Rangoli, Song and dance competitions) together with training certificates of IGIAT, Visakhapatnam were awarded.
Then a panorama of CCET, Bhilai- View at glance presentation was shown to the gathering. Thereafter students gave magnificent performance in number of variety cultural programs comprising of Western dance, various traditional Indian dances and group songs. The cultural program was the center of attraction of the students. The Central Robotics & Automation Lab at Mechanical Dept. was also inaugurated by the Chief Guest Fr Varghese Daniel together with Fr P T Thomas in the presence of honorable dignitaries, faculties and students. The vote of thanks was given by the event co-coordinator Mr R K Rathore.
