On 15th of August, 2016 Christian College of Engineering and Technology (CCET), Bhilai celebrated the 70th Independence Day of world’s greatest democracy with great joy and fervour. The history of Indian Independence is laced with the struggle and sacrifice of many leaders and revolutionaries of the country and to maintain its sovereignty countless soldiers have laid down their lives. YAAD KARO KURBANI is an initiative of Christian College to pay homage to the sacrifices of known and faceless revolutionaries, soldiers and citizens. In these turbulent times such initiatives are the need of the hour, as a symbol of solidarity and faith in Indian Republic. Many events and programs were organized by Christian College from 12th to 15th of August, 2016 under YAAD KARO KURBANI.

On 12th of August, 2016 the National Service Scheme wing of Christian college organized a candle march to rekindle the fire of patriotism in each and every Indian’s heart. On 13th August, 2016, as a symbol of National Unity in Diversity, each and every member of CCET family, whether belonging to any caste, creed, region or linguistic heritage gathered at the main ground of CCET to form a human chain in the shape of Mother India.

On 15th of August, 2016, the Independence Day Celebration started at 8.30 am at CCET campus. The flag was hoisted by the Principal of CCET, Dr Dipali Soren in the presence of HODs of various depts, faculties, non-teaching staff and students. Dr Dipali Soren spell bounded the gathering with her inspiring speech. She congratulated the gathering on this auspicious occasion and invigorated the zeal for nation in every heart. She asked the gathering to forsake personal gains for the greater good of the nation. She urged the gathering to be responsible citizens by prioritizing constitutional duties before enjoying the rights.

The poignancy of freedom struggle and the elation of achieving independence were evoked by beautiful performance of the students under the tutelage of Dr Shruti Bhargava, HOD of ET&T dept and Mr Sanjay Gupta, Assistant Professor, Mech dept. It is the testimony of their wonderful performance that the feeling of oneness and patriotism was palpable as air. The zeal of the gathering was such that the harmony of every heart came out in the form of patriotic slogans. The ceremony concluded with the National anthem. The Independence Day program was anchored by Dr Shruti Bhargava Choubey. The Executive Vice Chairman of CCET, Fr Jose K Varghese extended his warm wishes and congratulated each and every CCET family member on this auspicious day.
