On the 75th Anniversary of Quit India Movement, the students and staff of Christian College of Engineering and Technology, Bhilai took a pledge to create a society as per the tenets of father of the nation, Mahatama Gandhi. The pledge ceremony was held at college auditorium in the presence of Dr Dipali Soren, Principal, HODs of all departments, faculties, technical staff and students. Dr Dipali Soren addressed the gathering and highlighted the importance of the day. She said the Quit India movement of 1942 was the most popular and powerful mass movement in the series of agitations led by Mahatama Gandhi in the course of the freedom struggle. To motivate the gathering she quoted Mahatama Gandhi by saying that every Indian who desires freedom and strives for it must be his own guide urging him or her on a long hard road where there is no resting place and which leads ultimately to the independence of India. She said that today our Indian society is enclasped by extremism, communalism, casteism, poverty and corruption. To deracinate these evil masters from our mind and our society, we have to fight for New India Movement with same courage and vigor shown by our forefathers.  Thereafter the pledge was sworn in the presence of all HODs, Professors Senior faculty members and ended with the National Anthem. The Executive Vice Chairman, Fr Jose K Varghese congratulated the gathering for taking an oath to create a new, powerful and vibrant India.
