Christian College of Engineering and Technology (CCET), Bhilai has been hot bed for innovative learning with emphasis on all-round personality development through ethical knowledge based education. In this regard CCET in association with technical houses has been organizing many technical, cultural and literary events since 1998. One such program, Inter-college Essay writing (Hindi & English) and Debate competition, sponsored by Chhattisgarh Council of Science and Technology (CGCOST), Raipur was held at CCET, Kailashnagar, Bhilai campus on 15th of February, 2018. It was organized under the aegis of Coordinator cell of CGCOST and Literary Club of CCET. The topic of the inter-college essay writing competition was “Global warming and climate change- A serious threat to our environment” and inter-college debate competition was “Digital India- A boon or bane”. These competitions saw many participants from reputed institutes like St Thomas College, Ruabandha, Sai Polytechnic College, Bhilai, Kalyan Mahavidyalaya, Sec-7, RSR College of Engineering, Bhilai, competing with each other for the coveted prizes of Rs 1500 for the winner, Rs 1000 for first runnerup and Rs 500 for second runnerup given separately for both Hindi and English formats. The Special Guest of this Inter-college event was Dr Akhilesh Tripathi, Scientist of CGCOST, Raipur. The judges of this CGCOST, Raipur sponsored competition were Mrs Sangeeta Mishra, Principal of SNGVB, Bhilai, Mrs Deepti Dewangan, Principal, Govt School, Ramnagar and Mrs Jolly Mathai, Principal of MBVB, Shantinagar, Bhilai. The winner of Inter-college debate (English) competition was Ms Disha Bhattacharjee of CCET and the second prize was bagged by Mr Neeraj Chandani of CCET, Bhilai. First prize of Inter-college debate (Hindi) was won by Mr Shubham Bhusari of St Thomas College, second was awarded to Mr Parikshit Yash Sharma of St Thomas College and the third prize was jointly given to Mr Ashish Sharma of CCET and Mr Suraj Chandrakar of Sai Polytechnic College. In the Inter-college essay (English) competition, the first prize was bagged by Ms S Nishi of CCEt, the second prize was awarded to Mr Harsh Bijwe of CCET and the third prize was bagged by Mr A T John. The Inter-college essay (Hindi) competition was won by Mr Dhananjay Das of CCET, the second prize was awarded to Ms Sharda Aakare of CCET and Mr Om Prakash Sahu of CCET, Bhilai. The coordinators of this event were Dr Sandhya Pillai, HOD of Physics dept and Mrs Neha Singh, Assistant Professor, E&TC dept of CCET. The Executive Vice Chairman of CCET, Fr Jose K Varghese together with the Principal, Dr Deepali Soren and college management expressed their gratitude to CGCOST, Raipur and the esteemed judges for their valuable support. They also congratulated the coordinators of this event, the winners as well as the participants for making this Inter-college competition a grand success.
