Christian College of Engineering and Technology (CCET), Bhilai has crossed one more milestone as it celebrated its 18th year of excellence on October 17, 2016 with great enthusiasm and fervor. The celebrations started with lighting of lamp ceremony lead by the Chief Guest, Bishop Dr Joseph Mar Dionysius, Chairman of CCET in the presence of the Guest of Honors, Dr M G Roymon, Principal of St Thomas College and the Special Guest, Fr Kurian John, Principal of MGM Public School (MPS), Bhilai together with the EVC of CCET, Fr Jose K Varghese, Fr Aju K Varghese, Bursar, Dr Dipali Soren, Principal, Dr Shruti Bhargava, Convener, Mr Sanjay Gupta, Convener, Members of Students Council, HOD’s of various depts., faculties, staff and students.
In her speech the Principal of Christian College, Dr Dipali Soren welcomed the dignitaries along with the gathering to celebrate 18th Foundation Day of Christian College. She gave a brief report on the achievements of Christian College and said that in last 17 years this college has come on top of all competition despite challenges. She expressed her gratitude to each and every member of CCET in achieving this extraordinary milestone. The Executive Vice Chairman, Fr Jose K Varghese expressed his joy on this auspicious occasion. He asked the gathering to remember the founder of St Thomas Mission, the great pioneer Late Lamented Bishop Dr Stephanos Mar Theodosius, who toiled for decades for the prosperity of Chhattisgarh. He thanked the students for bringing laurels to Christian college through their hard work and talent along with the faculties who are part and parcel of every event. He urged the gathering to ensure all-round growth of budding engineers which in turn will uplift the society.
The Special Guest and Principal of MGM Public School, Fr Kurian John said that foundation day is the day of introspection, where we must remember our humble beginning and review our vision. He congratulated the Christian College for providing nation building engineers. The Guest of Honor and Principal of St. Thomas College, Dr M G Roymon said that this 18th foundation day is the testament of the undaunting will of Christian College, which has become a center of higher learning with a base on academic, physical and spiritual growth. The Chief Guest of this Program and Chairman of CCET, Bishop Dr Joseph Mar Dionysius gave blessings and message of togetherness to the gathering. He said that story of success of Christian College lies in its inherent strength of co-operation. He urged the young technocrats to have a humanitarian touch along with sound technical knowledge based on ethics, originality and innovation. He asked the gathering to develop scientific temper which leads to the development of objective, logical and analytical thinking, which in turn paves way for Nation Building.
In the celebration of foundation day prizes were distributed by dignitaries to the winners of various technical, cultural and literary competitions of ongoing CSVTU Youth Festival-2016. Thereafter the students of Christian College under the tutelage of the Conveners, Dr Shruti Bhargava, HOD of ET&T dept. and Mr Sanjay Gupta, Assistant Professor, Mechanical dept. won the heart of the gathering through their colorful and breathtaking performance. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr Sanjay Gupta. The 18th Foundation day program concluded with National Anthem.
