Since 1998, Christian College of Engineering and Technology (CCET), Bhilai has worked tirelessly in Chhattisgarh to reduce the glaring divide between academic curriculum and industrial standards. In this sequence the 4th Semester and 6th Semester students of Computer Science Engineering (CSE) and Electronics and Telecommunication (E&TC) Engineering, visited the Chhattisgarh Infotech Promotion Society (CHIPS) located at the state capital Raipur. The faculty coordinators of this Industrial tour were Mr Ashish Mishal, Asst Professor, CSE, Mr Indranil Sarkar, Asst Professor, CSE and Mr Prashant Shrivastava, Asst Professor, E&TC dept. The aim of the tour was to encourage innovative and analytical thinking in students by means of live hands-on knowledge. Mr Pranesh Dixit, Manager, Maintenance and Operation, CHIPS and Mr Gaurav Sharma, Infrastructure Expert, CHIPS demonstrated various machines, systems and projects run by CHIPS to impart thorough knowledge of Building Management System, Network setup and security, server operation and maintenance, Data recovery system, storage backups etc. While explaining various projects Mr Gaurav Sharma said that the CG State Data Center was awarded as ISO 27001:2005 certified for security and ISO 20000 certified for service. He said that the main aim for creation of CHIPS was for drastic increase and cultivation of Citizens enabled with fast and efficient online services, Improvement in IT literacy and generation of skilled and multi-tasked IT personnel. The Executive Vice Chairman of CCET, Fr Jose K Varghese and the Principal, Dr Dipali Soren extended their well wishes to the students and congratulated CSE and E&TC dept. for successful completion of the Industrial tour.
