Two day National Conference “Technologia-2016” was inaugurated in the auditorium of the Christian College of Engineering & Technology (CCET), Bhilai at 10:30 am on 10th February, 2016. Dr M K Verma, Vice Chancellor, C.S.V.T.U., Bhilai graced the inaugural function as the chief guest along with the Chief patron of this national conference, H G Bishop Dr Joseph Mar Dionysius, Chairman, CCET, Bhilai, together with an eminent personality, Dr Shailendra Kumar Shukla, CEO, CREDA. The National conference was inaugurated by lighting of lamp by the Chief Guest in the presence of the Chairman of CCET, H G Bishop Dr Joseph Mar Dionysius together with Fr Jose K Varghese, Executive Vice Chairman, CCET, Fr. Aju K. Varghese, Bursar, CCET, Dr Dipali Soren, Principal, CCET, Dr Anuprita Mishra, TIT Group, Bhopal, Dr D K Mishra, CIMT, Bhilai along with the HODs of different engineering departments of CCET, faculty members, participants and students. On this occasion the National Journal of Science and Engineering Education (JSEE) together with “Proceedings of Technologia 2016” were unveiled.

The Principal of CCET, Dr Dipali Soren in her welcome speech gave a brief about the history of the college and highlighted its vision and mission. She greeted the gathering and invited them to share their ideas and views on clean and affordable energy. She said that since 2002, Technologia has provided a unique platform to all the researchers and academicians, which has helped immensely to counter technological and social problems. She informed that out of the received 152 papers, 76 were selected and 52 were shortlisted for presentation. The Chairman of CCET, H G Bishop Dr Joseph Mar Dionysius in his presidential address enlightened the gathering about importance of balance between energy utilization and energy conservation. He said that in order to cut global carbon emission for the sake of our environment, we need to increase our dependence on renewable sources of energy, namely hydrogen and radiation based energy technologies. He highlighted the importance of such conferences based on modern energy technologies to tackle future energy crisis and environmental ill effects. He also appreciated the academic and humanitarian works of the Chief Guest, Dr M K Verma.

The Chief Guest of Technologia 2016, Dr M K Verma, Vice Chancellor, CSVTU, Bhilai congratulated CCET management and faculty members for organizing Technologia 2016. In his address he mentioned that this national Conference will show a new direction to the researchers working for pollution free and affordable energy systems. He said that both physical and meta-physical forms of energies are pure and non-aligned; rather their use is negative or positive. He pointed out that shortage of energy is caused by exponential increase in its consumption due to unrestrained population growth. He said that nanotechnology is contributing extensively in the development of new materials which are used to make better structures to create affordable clean energy technologies. He praised CCET for starting a post graduate course in Nanotechnology. The coordinator of R & D Cell of CCET, Dr Sandhya Pillai in her address appreciated and valued the contribution of Chhattisgarh Council of Science and Technology, Raipur for their consistent and constant support. Before the official release of CCET National research Journal named Journal of Science and Engineering Education (JSEE) having (ISSN-2455-5061, online), she said that it is aimed to encourage research and global exchange of knowledge in ever advancing fields of science.

The keynote speech for the first session was given by Dr Anuprita Mishra, TIT Group, Bhopal on the topic Energy Conservation. In the second session, Mrs Bonya Mukherjee, AGM, Energy Management Dept., BSP, Bhilai gave her keynote speech on Energy Management.   In both these sessions various papers were presented by the participants on a plethora of topics like solar wind power, fuel cell, hydroelectric energy, nanomaterial synthesis, genetic algorithm for optimal power flow etc. The vote of thanks was given by the HOD of ET&T Dept. and the convener of Technologia 2016, Dr Shruti Bhargava.
