TECHNOLOGIA-2019 : National conference on multidisciplinary innovations for sustainable developments (NCMISD -19)


On 28th of March, 2019, Christian College of Engineering and Technology (CCET), Kailashnagar, Bhilai organized the 17th edition of its annual program on the theme “National conference on multidisciplinary innovations for sustainable developments (NCMISD -19)”, popularly known as TECHNOLOGIA-2019. The inauguration ceremony started with lighting of lamp by the Chief Guest, Dr R N Patel, Associate Professor, Electrical Dept, NIT, Raipur in the presence of H G Bishop Dr Joseph Mar Dionysius, Chairman of CCET and Metropolitan of Calcutta Diocese, Fr Jose K Varghese, EVC, Dr Dipali Soren, Principal, Dr Sanjib Banerjee, Assistant Professor, IIT Bhilai, Dr Ritesh Dash, convener, Dr Sandhya Pillai, Co-Convener, Head of various depts., faculties, participants and students.

In his welcome address the convener, Dr Ritesh Dash said that this annual national conference has been a platform for researchers, academicians and industry champions to share their findings with the scholars, who are zealous to excavate scientific findings and also to instigate the participants to do meaningful work for ever-growing industry need and sustainable socio economic system. He reported that out of 82 research papers from Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Orissa, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, 48 papers were selected for presentation. In his presidential address H G Bishop Dr Joseph Mar Dionysius emphasized on how development should be redefined so that it becomes sustainable. He urged the gathering to cultivate original thoughts for unique sustainable innovations. In his felicitation speech, the Executive Vice Chairman, Fr Jose K Varghese expressed his views on relevance of the theme in today’s scenario. He said that innovative ideas and their conversion to products that can lead to sustainable development is the need of the hour. Thereafter Dr R N Patel motivated the gathering to develop new tools to tackle India’s socio-economic barriers. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr Sandhya Pillai, Head of Physics dept and Coordinator of R & D Cell. In his keynote speech Dr R N Patel educated the gathering about Innovation and startup creation in India. He put particular emphasis on the role of industry and academia in developing new commercializable techniques. He educated the gathering about India’s global standing in innovation. In his speech he gave various examples of innovations like solar carts and devices while explaining the infrastructure and support needed for its commercialization. Whereas the keynote speaker Dr Sanjib Banerjee taught the gathering about smart, functional materials for health care industry. The main focus of his speech was to motivate the gathering in creating low cost medical equipment and apparatus for steming the astronomical medical services cost. On this occasion the 4th edition of CCET Journal of Science & Engineering Education (JSEE) was released by the dignitaries. Dr Sandhya Pillai said that that 12 research papers were selected for CCET National research Journal named JSEE, having ISSN-2455-5061 (online) and Scientific Journal Impact factor of 4.212. She said that CCETJSEE is an annual open access online journal that publishes original research papers, review articles and case studies in the field of engineering, science and technology encompassing new research and development for various applications. In the Valedictory fuction the convener, Dr Ritesh dash gave a brief report of Technologia’s proceedings. After the felicitation of keynote speakers, the certificates were distributed to the participants. The Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr Sitendra Tamrakar, HOD, CSE dept.


With Joy and Light Christian College Celebrates Its 20TH Annual Day Symphonia-19

On April 11, 2019, the scent of joy and togetherness was palpable in Kailashnagar, Bhilai as Christian College of Engineering and Technology (CCET) celebrated its 20th Annual day popularly known as SYMPHONIA-2019. The annual function started with lighting of lamp ceremony in the presence of the Chief Guest, H. G. Bishop Dr Joseph Mar Dionysius, Metropolitan of Calcutta Diocese and Chairman of CCET, Bhilai, Fr Geevarghese Ramban, Vice President of St Thomas Mission, Fr George C Varughese, EVC, CCET, Fr Jose K Varghese, Former EVC of CCET and Principal of MGM Model School, Raipur, Fr Kurien John, Principal, MPS, Bhilai, Dr Dipali Soren, Principal, CCET, Mr Amit Sarda, Convener, Mr B Sridhar, Student Councillor of CCET, Mr Vishal Bhagat, Vice President of Student Council, Head of Departments, Media Persons, parents and students. In her welcome speech the Principal of CCET, Dr Dipali Soren invited the gathering to share the colours of joy and to enjoy the festivities. She presented the annual report of the college and congratulated all the students for bringing laurels to its name. She informed that CCET is the only private technical college in Chhattisgarh which publishes a national journal (JSEE:SIF-4.282). She informed the gathering about NBA Accreditation of Mechanical Engineering dept and congratulated them for the same. The Executive Vice Chairman of CCET, Fr George C Varughese motivated the young technocrats to bring kudos not only for oneself but for our mother college as well by having an inquisitive mind. He urged the gathering to cultivate discipline and attitude to bring new ideas for spreading light and joy in the world. Mr Sridhar Burla gave the report of student council. He introduced the current members of student council appointed on merit basis. Mr Vishal Bhagat in his speech said that CCET is a pioneer in providing morally and ethically sound technical education to the masses. He expressed his gratitude to student council members, professor Incharge, convener, faculties and CCET management for grand success of Symphonia-2019. The Chairman of CCET, H. G. Bishop Dr Joseph Mar Dionysius in his presidential address said that every year in this annual function the faculties, technical staff, support staff and students work in a symphony for its success thus justifying its name Symphonia. He said that the feeling of togetherness is entrenched in CCET family which helps impart ethical education with technological temperament in students, making it one of the best institutes in Chhattisgarh.

On this occasion the annual magazine of CCET ‘Footprint-2019’ was unveiled. In recognition of the achievements and skills of CCETians, various scholarships, academic awards, trophies and cash prizes were awarded by the dignitaries to the winners and runner-ups of a plethora of exciting events like technical quiz, food fusion, crazy games, photo battle competition, maze runner, roborace, ps2, arm wrestling, wall art, mehendi and much more organized by Technoclub, sports club, cultural club and engineering associations of all the branches. Thereafter the Peter Thomas Award for best all-rounder was awarded to Mr Francis Narange (CSE, 8th Sem). Dr R N Dash Endowment Cup for overall topper of 1st and 2nd semester was won by Mr Aswani Kumar Sharma and Ms Garima Jain. Overall Champions in sports were Mr Honey Choudhary (CSE, 8th Sem) and Ms Sunaina sharma (CSE, 8th sem). The Overall champions in cultural were Mr Edward Masih (CSE, 8th Sem) and Ms Sunaina sharma (CSE, 8th sem). The gathering was brimming with zeal and ardor when the students of CCET presented fantastically crafted and masterfully executed traditional and modern songs and dance programs. The Convener of Symphonia-2019, Mr Amit Sarda, Asst Prof, Mechanical Dept proposed the Vote of Thanks. Mrs Payal Roy, Asst Professor, Electrical dept was the Co-convener and Dr Sandhya Pillai, Head of Physics dept. and Coordinator of R & D Cell was the anchor of Symphonia-2019.

SRIJAN-2019: Science Exhibition and Interschool Competition

Christian College of Engineering and Technology (CCET), Bhilai has been a hot bed of learning and technological advancement in the region since 1998. In accordance to its motto, CCET has organized various programs to nurture scientific temper in the hearts of young Indians. In this sequence, a Chhattisgarh Council of Science and Technology (CCOST), Raipur sponsored Science Exhibition cum Interschool model and poster competition was organized by CCET. In this competition more than 400 students from MGM Raipur, BNS School, Nalanda School, MBS Vaishalinagar, St Xaviers Shantinagar, Gandhi Memorial School, Indu IT School, MGM Sector-6, Govt schools of Patora and Fekari visited the college. The program was inaugurated by the Chairman of CCET and Metropolitan of Calcutta Diocese, His Grace Bishop Dr Joseph Mar Dionysius in the presence of Fr Jose K Varghese, Executive Vice Chairman, Dr Dipali Soren, Principal, Dr Archana Choudhary, Convener, Dr Sandhya Pillai, Co-convener, HODs of all dept, faculties of CCET and various schools along with their students. H G Bishop Dr Joseph Mar Dionysius said that when scientific knowledge meets pious mind then only the country can develop. He motivated the young students to work tirelessly for the service of humanity in any form possible. After the inauguration the gathering were introduced to technological advancements in the fields of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering and Computer Science Engineering via the technical model and project exhibition of respective engineering streams. The excitement and enthusiasm of young minds was evident when they eagerly listened and asked about the plethora of scientific devices and models exhibited by CCETians. In the valedictory function the principal, Dr Dipali Soren extolled the virtues of science. She urged the gathering to participate in such event, wherein scientific aptitude can be cultivated for solutions of lot of socio economic problems faced by rural India. Dr Archana Choudhary, Coordinator and Associate Professor of CSE gave a brief report of the program. She said that such forums provide a platform for budding minds to work on problems like climate change and global warming. Dr Sandhya Pillai, Co-coordinator and Head of Research and Development Cell thanked the director and scientists of CCOST, Raipur for their continuing support and guidance. In his motivational speech, the Chief Guest Dr Sanjay Tiwari, Professor and Head of School of Electronics and Photonics at PRSU, Raipur said that in current scenario creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship are three most sought after traits. He said that due to various govt programs to develop these traits India has progressed in leaps and bounds over the past years. Thereafter in the prize distribution ceremony Juhi Mukherjee of MGM Raipur won the first prize in senior model competition and Divya Sarpate of MGM Raipur bagged the second prize followed by Rashi Koshale and Afreen Bano of St Xaviers School. In Junior Model category Trisha Singh of Indu IT School was awarded the first prize, Dhanraj Rathi, Vipanshu Sahu and Abhay Jain of Gandhi Memorial School bagged the second prize and the third prize was bagged by Zeenat Bano, Shruti Soni and N Priyansha of St Xaviers School. Priya Vishwakarma and Mahjbeen Fatima of St Xaviers School won the interschool poster making competition, whereas Divya Vishwakarma and Shruti Singh of St Xaviers School won the second prize and the third prize was awarded to Trisha Singh of Indu IT school. The judges of these events were Dr Manoj Varghese, Prof and Dean, RCET Bhilai, Dr S C Shrivastava, Asst Prof, Mathematis Dept, RCET and Mrs Sangeeta Tamrakar, Principal of Govt H S School, Pendrawan, Dhamdha. The The vote of thanks was given by the anchor of the event Mrs Kajal Verma, Asst Prof of CSE dept. the EVC, Fr Jose K Varghese along with the Principal, Dr Dipali Soren and CCET management congratulated the team of Shrijan-2019 for successful completion of the program. They also expressed heartfelt gratitude to CCOST Raipur for their valuable support.


The Department of Electrical Engineering of Christian College of Engineering & Technology organized five days Short Term Training Program (STTP) on “HANDS ON EXPERTISE IN MATLAB MODELING ON POWER ELECTRONICS & CONTROL SYSTEM” for faculty and P.G. scholars. This event was sponsored by Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekananda Technical University (CSVTU), The Project, Third phase of Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP-III). The STTP titled Hands on expertise in MATLAB modelling on Power Electronics and Control Systems was aimed at providing participants the knowhow and practical knowledge of various power electronics and control systems applications and devices. This STTP was made possible by the support and guidance of Chief Patrons Dr. M. K. Verma Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, CSVTU Bhilai & H.G. Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius, Chairman CCET Bhilai, Fr. Jose K Varghese ,EVC,CCET Bhilai and  Patrons of the event Shri D. N. Sirsant ,Registrar ,CSVTU Bhilai & Dr. Dipali Soren, Principal ,CCET Bhilai. The speaker of the first session was Dr. Sarat Chandra Swain, Professor  & Asso. Dean, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar. While speaking on the topic, Introduction to Matlab & Design of AC/DC Machines, he discussed about the simulation and programming of various parameters to design AC and DC motors in the simulink platform. On the second day, an expert lecture was delivered by Dr. S.R Jena, Asso. Prof., KIIT University, Bhubaneswar on the topic, Implementation of Hysteresis Controller in Matlab Simulink & its Applications. He also discussed about harmonics calculation, transient stability and its simulation. Dr. Puja Dash, Asso. Prof., Gayatri Vidyapith, Vizag gave her lecture on the third day of the program. Her topic was Design of Automatic Generation Control. She also discussed about automatic frequency control, automatic voltage regulation, generator and turbine model. On the fourth day the Expert lecture was delivered on the topic control system & its application on MATLAB. On the concluding day, the Expert lecture was delivered by Dr. Ritesh Dash, Convener & HOD Electrical Department on Design of ANFIS & Fuzzy logic controller and its simulation. The vote of thanks was proposed by Co-convener Mr. Prashant Bawaney, Asst. Prof. Electrical Department. The whole programme was anchored by Mrs.  Saumya Singh , Asst. Prof. Electrical Department.

An inter branch Documentary Film Making Competition on the theme – “Communicating Science for All” was organized in Christian College of Engineering & Technology, Bhilai on 23rd February 2019. This competition was sponsored by Chhattisgarh Council of Science  & Technology (CCOST), Raipur as a part of the National Science Day Celebrations 2019. In this competition, the participants were required to make a short movie of maximum 7 minutes duration on the theme and they were judged on the basis of the subject content, creativity, originality and editing skills. The judges for the competition were Dr. Dilip Dash, Professor, dept. of Mathematics, CCET, Dr. Kusumanjali Deshmukh, Assistant Professor, dept. of Physics, Govt. Naveen College Jamul, Dr. Alpa Shrivastava, Assistant Professor, dept. of Chemistry, Govt. College, Vaishali Nagar. Around 14 groups of students participated in the competition. The 1st prize of Rs 2000/- was won by Pitambar Patil and Aruna Ekka, 4th Sem Electrical Engineering, 2nd Prize of Rs 1500/- was won by Anjelica and Mohit Maheswari, 4th sem Electrical Engineering and the 3rd prize of Rs 1000/-was won by Rockson Depty and Vikas Singh, 4th Sem, Comp. Science Engineering. Participation certificates were awarded to all the participants. Dr. Sandhya Pillai, R&D Coordinator and Head, Physics dept of Physics CCET was the Convener of the event and the Program Coordinator was Dr. Anil Kumar Choubey, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Physics. The program was conducted by Ms. Janet, Asst. Professor, department of CSE. Executive Vice Chairman of CCET, Fr. Jose K. Varghese and the Principal, Dr. Dipali Soren, lauded the efforts of the students in bringing out their creative talent and congratulated the winners.

Workshop on “Solar Energy Harvesting and Utilization for Sustainable Development” by Padmashri Dr. Mrs. Janak Palta McGilligan , at CCET, Bhilai

Students of CCET Visit Jaisaval-Neco Industries Ltd., Raipur

Since 1998, Christian College of Engineering and Technology (CCET), Bhilai has worked tirelessly in Chhattisgarh to reduce the glaring divide between academic curriculum and industrial standards. In this sequence the students of 6th Semester, Mechanical engineering department of CCET visited “Jayasval-Neco Industries Ltd. (Steel Plant Division), Siltara Growth Centre, Raipur”. Neco Industries limited is a well known and one of the leading plants of central India, specially admired for its alloy products like metal wire, plates, finished bar products etc. The Industrial Visit for sixth semester Mechanical Engineering students started with a brief session of basic plant management and operations by Mr. Girija Shankar, Senior HR. his valuable insights into the day to day operations of the plant added immensely to the knowledge pool of the future technocrats. Later the plant visit was taken over by the Superior Technical Team of Neco Industries who discussed about the life, culture and works experience in the Industry. The Senior Technical team also guided the students to develop their personalities and the qualities in accordance with future industrial needs. They also said that a quality engineer can sustain the rigors of the job, due to innovative ideas which in long run benefits not only the industry but the society as a whole. Students thoroughly enjoyed the visit and understood nature of the work due to diligent staff, who minutely explained the working procedure of the machines and equipments in the 12 MW power plant including turbines. The faculty coordinators of the visit were Mr Amit Singh Dhakad, Asst Prof, Mechanical Dept and Mr Jitendra Sahu, Asst Prof, Mechanical Dept. The Executive Vice Chairman of CCET, Fr Jose K Varghese and the Principal, Dr Dipali Soren extended their well wishes to the students and congratulated Mechanical dept. for successful completion of the Industrial tour.
